A proper Mai Tai is four or five ingredients and a scale, which is exactly why most people order one out instead of building one at home. This is that drink with the hard part done: Trader Vic's 1944 formula — fresh lime, orange, and real Original Orgeat, almonds and all — in one bottle, so the only thing left to add is rum. Four ounces of mix, two ounces of a good gold or aged rum, shake over crushed ice. That's a Mai Tai.

Because it's built on actual orgeat instead of almond flavoring, it drinks like the bar version, not the sour-mix version — the almond gives the rum something to lean on instead of just sugar and lime. Split the rum across a funky Jamaican and an aged blend if you're feeling it. Skip the rum entirely and top it with soda for something the sober crowd will fight you for.

Once opened, refrigerate and use within 30 days — unopened, it keeps for two years from the date of manufacture.
