Garden of Tiki

Introducing “Garden of Tiki”, the exclusive mystery TikiLand tiki mug for the 2024 members of TikiLand Mug Society.

If you’re a fan of the Enchanted Tiki Room in Anaheim, it’s likely you’re familiar with the Tangaroa Babies that hang from the Tangaroa Tree in the Enchanted Tiki Garden (the pre-show waiting area). And of course, most people are familiar with the Tiki Juice Bar as well.
In 1976 Dole took over sponsorship of the Enchanted Tiki Room from United Airlines. At the juice bar, the menu back then was limited to pineapple juice and fresh pineapple spears, but eventually Dole Whips and Dole Whip Floats were added in 1984 and 1986 respectively. Dole’s involvement as a sponsor was a massive marketing payoff as Dole Whip and Dole Whip Floats would become a phenomenon of their own, and for many years were sparsely available outside of the parks.

It’s with these points of inspiration that we designed “Garden of Tiki”. Continuing the theme of our of our last two TikiLand Mug Society mystery mugs, which is the intersect of Tiki and art in popular culture and advertising, Jeff Granito brought to life a rough concept which
Lost Tiki had of a Tangaroa Baby emerging from a pineapple.

This mug follows its two TikiLand Mug Society mystery mug predecessors, from 2023 "Gateway to Tiki”, and from 2022 “Journey to Hawaii”.

“Journey to Hawaii” was inspired by the United Airlines “HAWAII” advertising campaign, and “Gateway to Tiki" mug is transitional in the story - moving from United Airlines, to the crossover of United Airlines’ sponsorship of the Enchanted Tiki Room when it first opened in 1963 until 1975. The third and current mug, “Garden of Tiki”, picks up in 1976 with the sponsorship transition of the Enchanted Tiki Room from United Airlines to Dole.

Lost Tiki’s inspiration for each of the mugs created for TikiLand Mug Society is to tell part of his, and many other’s, story and journey of “falling down the Tiki rabbit hole”. This is the 4th mug in the ongoing TikiLand Mug Society series.

This mug is only available to members of TikiLand Mug Society.
