Teko Teko Tiki by BigToe (Tom Laura)

We had the pleasure of working with BigToe (Tom Laura) in a collaboration on the piece of art that inspired this mug. Limited solely by BigToe's imagination, we asked him to create his own representation of a traditional tiki while remaining true to his signature and unique style. 


About this Tiki Mug:

    • Mug photos show the mug in outdoor natural direct sun light (with shaded areas of the mug). No filters, external lights, or editing has been used on these photos besides cropping.
    • Mug size and volume: This mug is approximately 9.75 inches tall and holds about 17 oz (this will vary from mug to mug depending on wall thickness when it was made).
    • Shipping Info: Ready to Ship!
    • Designed by BigToe in sunny Southern California. Imported.
    • These are ceramic mugs intended for cold or room temperature beverages only.
    • All of our ceramics are handmade. Each mug varies slightly and is unique, and is not the exact mug photographed here, although we try for it to be as identical as possible when produced by hand. During ceramic production sometimes there can be small variations with glaze, color, texture, cleanup, etc.
    • We guarantee mugs not to arrive with structural cracks or chips, and will replace them at our expense if they arrive to you in this condition.
    • Only one mug included.
    • While technically this can be put in a dishwasher, we only recommend hand washing as this is a functional piece of art.
    • Please familiarize yourself with our policies.

 

What are “Whoopsies”?

This only applies to those who select 'Whoopsies' as an option when ordering.

During production, sometimes 'Whoopsies!' happen. These mugs we still consider sellable and usable, but we’ve previously held them back from shipping for often very small and obscure reasons that most people wouldn’t notice/care about. While all of our mugs are hand made and unique, some are a little more unique than others. We’ve had many people inquire about mugs that we’ve not had in-stock for awhile, so we thought this could be a good way to get some mugs that we no longer produce into the hands of those who really want them, and to make room on our shelves for new mugs that we’ve got in the works.

Each of these tiki mugs will have one or more of these, or other, small issues: glaze somewhere unintended, tiny black dots from particles in the kiln, glaze smudges, superficial cracks that don’t affect the integrity of the mug, variation in color or glaze texture,  cleanup issues, etc. As each mugs issues vary and are unique, they aren’t reflected in pictures here. Mugs are being sold in as-is condition. While we reserve the right to permanently mark mugs on bottom, out of sight, to indicate they're part of this group, this set will not be marked. Exchanges for alternate 'Whoopsie!' mugs will be allowed if buyer pays shipping costs. Mugs will not arrive cracked (excludes superficial ‘cracks’).

My journey into the world of tiki mugs has officially begun—and what a way to kick it off. The Teko Teko from TikiLand Trading Co. is the first real tiki mug I’ve ever owned, and I’ve got to say… I’m already obsessed.

This thing isn’t just a drinking vessel—it’s a full-blown personality. The craftsmanship is absolutely top-notch. Every carved detail pops with purpose, from the hypnotic turquoise eyes to the intricate tribal patterns etched around the body. It has a bold presence that instantly commands attention, like it belongs on a shrine instead of a shelf.

The design feels both ancient and modern, like something Indiana Jones might have discovered in a forgotten temple—then immediately poured a rum cocktail into. The weight is satisfying, the finish is flawless, and the sculpt itself is just downright impressive. It’s got character—grit, attitude, and just enough mystique to make you feel like you’re holding something sacred.

I didn’t expect to fall this hard for a tiki mug, but here I am, already hunting for more that match my style and humor. If Teko Teko is any indication of what’s out there, I’m in trouble… and I’m loving every minute of it.
